I stumbled upon Serial Experiments: Lain after buying a DVD in London's Chinatown which had several random episodes of random anime series' on. One of the episodes was Lain (another was Paranoia agent, another cult fave which I may write about in future...). This was about 13 years ago, and Lain has always stuck in my mind for its unique storytelling. I have since watched the series as a whole and have deepdived into lore surrounding the IP as "research" for creating this page. One of the topics that sparks huge interest in my neurodivergent mind has long been the consciousness of AI, robots, and other electrical forms. So, as I am embracing this interest so fully these days (how very topical), I wanted to return to one of the early steps in the creation of this interest (the first step is definitely iRobot, I watched that film hundreds of time as a young one).
